
According to the latest Distimo Report, China has become the second largest market for downloads in Apple’s App Store. And Asian customers would rather download the free version of an app than pony up a few dollars for the premium, ad-free version. Check out some of the major findings from the report after the break!

The in-app purchase model is not working good in China. The chart above shows the in-app purchases among the 200 top grossing apps , and China has only 34% of the revenue from the 200 top grossing apps.

Although China has a large population, we can’t see that the country tops downloads for both paid and free apps. In China, 65% of the 300 most popular free applications are regionally popular only, while in South Korea, 87% of free and 78% of paid applications are regionally aimed, respectively.

Interesting, the animated news app from Taiwan’s Next Media Animation is the second highest ranked free app for iPad. Looks like the Asians love to watch how the Taiwanese animators parodied daily news.
We know that China is a particular target for Apple, and the iPhone’s fastest growing market is China. And today, China has become the second largest market for App Store downloads, we wonder, will Apple put more focus on China in 2012?
