
The crucial crackdown on intellectual property rights in China continues to make unwillingness atmosphere. Today, we heard that the knockoff Gundam maker had been penalized by the court and were forced to apologize. More info and photos after the break.

The owner of Gundam is Bandai Namco, and “Hongli All Toys” is a Chinese company which created knockoff Gundam toys.
According to Japan’s Inside Games reported, Hongli All Toys being forced to pay $120,000 USD for legal fees and they were told to cease all marketing and manufacturing of the knockoff Gundam. In addition, Hongli was ordered to write an apology in Business China, reports Japan’s Inside Games. It was published on May 13. However, Hongli‘s website still has pictures of the toys along with its own copyright notice.

Comparison between the knockoff Gundam toys and giant Gundam clone.

The giant Gundam clone was spotted at a theme park in Sichuan (China) last year. However, it had been taken off due to IPR issue. Dramatically, the Gundam was reappeared in the themed park after doing some plastic surgery. However, to be clear, this giant knockoff mech is not made by Hongli All Toys.

Due to the giant knockoff Gundam appeared in Sichuan’s themed park, many other related products were out in the market. Above is a knockoff Gundam t-shirt.
