Man Throws Hundreds of Fake iPhones Out Of Window Before Police Arrives (video)

Finally we know what the knockoff makers do when police officers visit their secret shanzhai cellphone ‘workshop’. Throw everything out of the window! Yup, four silly shanzhai dealers decide to throw everything out of the window from their 18th floor apartment before the police bash in their front door and seize all the stuff. They even burn the transaction records. Detailed news report after the break.

Here’s the story. The local authority got a tip about an unlicensed cellphone workshop is located at Huaqiangbei district — the most popular place for gadget shopping in Shenzhen. So, the officers visit the workshop and knock the doors. No one answers so they bashed in. Four men were burning papers and documents in the apartment at that time. The officers then found ten thousands of Nokia phone stickers and not-yet-burned customers database. The database is awesome, includes all provinces of mainland China, except Tibet. However, the most surprising discovery is that four big boxes of shanzhai cellphones were thrown out of the windows before the officers bashed in. About a thousand cellphones were thrown, and that includes 656 fake iPhones with 140 cases, 284 Nokia phones with 460 cases, 69 Sony Ericsson phones. No one got hurt by the falling cellphones from the apartment, but they smashed the cars and fences near the building. Video below.

The four men got arrested and they were brought to the local police station. Actually, the shanzhai factories in Shenzhen are now facing a crackdown, since the World University Summer Games will be held in Shenzhen on August, and the local authorities do not wish the foreigners to get in touch with infringement and knock-off products, since that may affect the image of Shenzhen. Anyway, most shanzhai vendors have already gone underground, selling the products secretly online, especially Taobao.

P.S. The fakes iPhones come with a packaging box with the word ‘iPhone 5′. Awesome.
