Samsung Apps Mobile Application Store Making Its Way to China

Maybe this is just a rumor. According to Marbridge Consulting, an industry insider claims that Sina, one of China’s biggest Internet portals, has formed a partnership with Samsung, under which Sina will operate the Samsung Apps mobile application store for mainland China. And Sina’s mobile applications will be pre-installed on Samsung handsets. Wow, sounds cool, just imagine Sina microblog is pre-installed on a Samsung smartphone.

For the operation of Samsung Apps mobile application store, Sina plans to transfer the operating rights to 1000CHI Software Technology, a mobile phone download client developer that is backed by Sina. Here’s what spokesperson for Samsung China said in a statement,

“The move is part of Samsung’s plan to encourage development of localized mobile applications.

While we are still wondering if Sina and Samsung are working something out together, a representative for 1000CHI confirmed in a telephone interview with Marbridge Consulting that the company has received funding from Sina, but declined to reveal a specific figure.
