World Joyland operated for about two weeks already; Shanghai Disneyland’s construction began already (estimated would open in 2015); and Hello Kitty Land will be the 3rd themed park to be opened near Shanghai City.
Sanrio Co., the creator of the Hello Kitty, has announced a partnership with a Chinese company (Zhejiang Yinrun Leisure Development) to open a Hello Kitty theme park in Anji, Zhejiang Province, just a few hours’ drive from Shanghai.

China’s Hello Kitty Land will be covered 95,000 square-meter, expected to open in 2014, one year earlier than Shanghai’s Disneyland. Moreover, Sanrio Co. has invested approximately $1.5 billion Chinese yuan ($215 million USD) into this project.
A Sanrio spokesman, Hideo Yamaguchi said:
“The potential for growth is in Asia, this agreement means a lot for Sanrio, as it will broaden our licensing business.”
We could see all those project will definitely fire up China’s tourism, particular in Shanghai city. Will Universal Studio expand to Shanghai as well?
