IMAX Tickets Get a Price Cut in China

For those of you who like to enjoy an IMAX film in mainland China, here’s a pretty good news for you. IMAX is now considering lowering the price of the tickets and opening over 100 new IMAX theaters in China. Cool.

According to IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond,

“IMAX is thinking of lowering the price in order to attract more people coming into theaters,” and, “We have identified 350 locations that are suitable for opening IMAX theaters in China.”

Yup, Richard said that there would be over 100 IMAX theaters opening in China in the coming years.

“China is now the second largest market for IMAX around the world after the United States,” he said, “I’ve been to China for five times in the last six months. I haven’t got Los Angeles as that much.”

This sounds very interesting. As we know, China is now the fastest growing market in the world and developing business in the country is probably the best direction for a foreign company. Last year, the Chinese citizens got amazed with the 3D technology in the blockbuster movie Avatar. And with IMAX theaters getting populated in China, the Chinese will surely get a taste of it with cheaper tickets.
