White iPhone 4

Now is Spring, which is soon for the white iPhone 4 releases from Apple. Apple said would release the white iPhone 4 sometimes in spring 2011, but we found there are already selling of white iPhone 4 in China, they are all come from Zhongguancun in Beijing or either in Taobao. How would this be possible? Check it out after the break.

With those white iPhone 4 selling in Zhongguancun, it is actually some guys changing the shells from black to white, probably the shells are from the leak out last year. The selling price of the white iPhone 4 increased around $400 RMB -$1100 RMB ($52 – $143) based on the original price of an iPhone 4.

Similar things were found on the Taobao, but the seller had clearly stated the white iPhone 4 are produced by changing the shell from black to the white. The shells are from the last year leak out from Foxconn. Even more, the Taobao seller packed the machine in a white iPhone 4 box, and at the moment, there are already 102 successful deals.

AFAIK, true white iphone 4s have not been produced. Apple up to this point has not been happy with the color of the white produced by their contractor, so these shells are at best the defective runs of that endeaver. I sure wouldn’t want to pay a premium for a defective product, even if it is only the color (since the color IS the whole reason that people are paying extra).

Secondly, it was not Foxconn that was producing these shells, it was another Chinese manufacturer I believe, so it seems unlikely to me that Foxconn would even have had these parts to begin with.
