5-in-1 iPad Camera Connection Kit Gets Even More Bizarre

5-in-1 iPad connection kit

Few days ago, we introduced a 3-in-1 iPad camera connection kit. However, we found a 5-in-1 version today, and there’s two types. One comes with USB port, SD card slot, micro SD card slot, AV-Out port, and a mini USB port. Another one supports a wide range of memory cards including MMC, M2 and MS DUO. This is insane.

Below is another type, the 5+1 in 1 camera connection kit. WTF…

We are not sure about the prices for the above two, but we still recommend the 3-in-1 version. Seriously, who needs an AV-Out port, mini USB port and memory stick slots?

P.S. We are preparing a review for the 3-in-1 camera kit, check back later for updates!

The 5 in 1 solves the iPad 4.1 USB power issue because it allows you to use the USB mini for power while using the regular USB for your keyboard. With that setup, your keyboard works like before and you get to charge your iPad while working. Razor Edge Cases has been selling them and they kill the 3 in 1. Weak and bias article.

Who are you to determine that no one needs an AV-Out port, mini USB port and memory stick slots?

supposedly, yes, you can charge and run a separate usb device.

Would this device allow an iPad 2 to connect to a portable hard drive?

I am looking into an iPad 2 for my father that goes on the road often to use as both internet access through WiFi Hot Spots and as a Media Player for .avi & .mkv video files… And possibly games if he so desires… but the 16gb of native memory won’t hold that many Films/TV RIPS off the DVR so I’m hoping to find a means of connecting a 500GB Portable HD to the iPad 2 so I can load up the drive once a month or less with whatever he wants.

What is the likelihood of Apple fu**ing the consumers, again, and disabling this connection kit with a firmware update? Can you refuse the updates or roll the iPad 2 back to an earlier version or is it an automated, mandatory update?

Not related to the 5-in-1 but can anyone tell me if you can open .pdf or Microsoft Word Documents on the iPad 2? He’ll get emails through gMail but often times he gets business docs & it would be worthless if the iPad 2 couldn’t open them.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

AVI and MKV files won’t be supported on iPad. I don’t know about connecting an external drive, it wouldn’t be officially supported and even then the formats would still need to be.

Updates aren’t mandatory but they can include bug and security fixes so it’s a good idea to do so when prompted.

PDF files definitely work, word files should too (i’m pretty sure i’ve viewed some on mine)

Probably a bit late to post but SubVideo player and Azul video player both play .mkv files on the ipad2. Azul video player doesn’t support hd-mkv files.

You can tray apps such as write PDF that can open most of file formats or perhaps app called PrintCentralPro. Apple frustration is in fact that device has no USB port which would give you ability to dump movies and other contents from you iPad onto external device to free iPad2 (in my case), memory and then use this same external storage to wach any movies you like from it. I use VLC , iPad version software player, which will play almost any movie formats instantly on my iPad2. I’m believe that there is also version of flash player and PDF reader, writen for apple by Adobe, but apple is still negotiating deal for that third party application. I hope this helps. Ivan.
